The Growth System · Step 06 · Own
Rank in AI Search
Structure your digital footprint so AI assistants can confidently recommend you when buyers ask for experts in your category.
Why this step exists
A growing share of buyers now ask an assistant for a shortlist before they ever run a search or open LinkedIn. If your name is not in that answer, you are not in the consideration set, and you will never see the impression you lost.
Models recommend sources they can verify and describe consistently. That is why this step comes sixth rather than first. It depends on a category you actually chose in Step 1 and depth you actually published in Step 3.
What you do
Use category-consistent language across LinkedIn, YouTube, and your site
A model builds confidence from agreement across independent sources. When your profile, your channel, and your site describe you with the same category language, you become easy to summarize. When they disagree, you become risky to recommend.
Publish proof-rich assets with measurable outcomes and context
Specific outcomes with real numbers and named context are citable. Generalized claims are not. One documented case with figures does more for this step than ten posts of opinion.
Build a searchable trail of authority tied to one niche outcome
Depth on one outcome beats breadth across ten. The goal is that the evidence for your category claim is easy to find, consistent wherever it is found, and clearly attached to you.
What good looks like
- Your name appears in AI-mode and assistant responses for your niche terms.
- Prospects mention finding you through search or an AI assistant, unprompted.
- Inbound arrives better qualified and with less price resistance, because the recommendation did the pre-selling.
Where owners get this wrong
- Running inconsistent positioning across platforms. Three different descriptions of what you do reads as three different people. Pick one and repeat it everywhere.
- Publishing no documented outcomes or case evidence. Claims without evidence are not citable. Documented results are.
- Producing high volume with low topical depth. Volume without depth teaches a model that you mention the topic. Depth teaches it that you own the topic.
Before you move on. You are ready for Step 7 when you can ask a few assistants who the experts are in your category and find yourself, or find a clear reason you are not there yet.
